IQM Quantum Computers CEO Dr. Jan Goetz joins the Global Innovators Community at WEF Annual Meeting 2023

Espoo, Finland, 13th January 2023 – IQM Quantum Computers (IQM), the European leader in building superconducting quantum computers, is announcing today that its CEO and Co-founder, Dr. Jan Goetz, will speak at the 2023 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

The annual meeting, which will run from 16-20 January 2023, will gather leaders from government, business, and civil society to discuss “cooperation in a fragmented world” while providing a platform to engage in constructive, forward-looking dialogues and help find solutions through public-private cooperation.

Goetz, who is also a Digital Leader and Global Innovator at the WEF, will speak on "The Quantum Tipping Point" as part of the official WEF programme with other experts including Ana Paula Assis, the General Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at IBM; Kohei Itoh, President of Keio University in Japan; and Amy Webb, a Professor of Strategic Foresight at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

This session is linked to the ongoing work of the Quantum Economy Network of the World Economic Forum. Quantum technologies have massive potential in a wide array of fields, from finance to healthcare.

I am excited to be engaging with world leaders and fellow business executives to discuss the potential of quantum computing and how it will contribute to mitigating fragmentation in our world. Now more than ever, I believe we need to strengthen collaboration between countries, and leaders must come together and find ways to address global technology challenges that transcend national borders,” said Goetz.

2023 marks the second consecutive year IQM has had a major presence in Davos. In 2022, Goetz and other IQM top leaders visited Davos as part of the first Finnish Flow business delegation.

There is more to our participation in Davos than simply marketing the use of quantum computers. It is about establishing synergies and finding common ground among the various parties involved in the strategic topic of quantum technology. This invitation is also a fantastic recognition for our global vision and European leadership as IQM,” added Goetz.

Goetz will also feature in other one-to-one meetings and the “Building Advanced Manufacturing Ecosystems for Sustainable Growth” side event organised by Guidance (formerly known as Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau).

Goetz is a member of the German Federal Economic Senate. He is also on the Board of the European Innovation Council EIC and the European Quantum Industry Consortium QuIC, where he strives to enable collaboration between different stakeholders from industry and the public sector.

He did his doctorate on superconducting quantum circuits at Technical University of Munich and worked as a Marie-Curie Fellow in Helsinki at Aalto University, where he holds the title of docent. In 2020, Capital magazine selected him as one of 40 under 40 in Germany and he received the prestigious entrepreneurship award from the KAUTE Foundation.
