Finally, the superconducting quantum computing community has its own conference. After months of planning, the Superconducting Qubits and Algorithms (SQA) Conference took place in August 2022 in Helsinki, Finland.
SQA is a not-for-profit scientific conference with a focus on science, technology, and algorithms relevant to superconducting quantum computers.
In cooperation with the scientific community, IQM Quantum Computers, which organised the conference, brought together brilliant minds from the field of superconducting quantum computing to connect and exchange ideas. It was four amazing days of keynotes, talks, and poster sessions.

The conference started with welcoming remarks by Prof. Mikko Möttönen, the Chair of the conference and Chief Scientist at IQM Quantum Computers, followed by welcoming words from the Mayor of Helsinki, Juhana Vartiainen, and a keynote by Pedram Roushan of Google.
Over the next three days, over 30 talks and 70 poster presenters showcased their work to over 270 attendees. On top of that, plenty of coffee breaks, lunch breaks, a welcome reception, a conference dinner, and very interesting excursions to the Bluefors facility, IQM laboratory, and the city of Helsinki itself offered an abundance of networking opportunities.

Dr. Stefan Seegerer is the Education Lead at IQM Quantum Computers. His work focuses on democratizing the world of quantum computing through education. One of the projects is IQM Academy, an interactive and engaging online curriculum for quantum computing. In September 2022, he was awarded the Balzert Prize for innovative teaching and learning concepts in computer science education.
